Quality First Insurance sponsored an Educational opportunity for Western Nebraska.
Northfield Villa, Gering Nebraska opened its doors to the area and hosted Rhonda Kraft and Steve Sterling, both Physical Therapists who provide Loss Prevention Consultation from Diamond Insurance Group Ltd.
The topics for the day:

Limited Lift Success -
*Research shows that safe lifting programs can reduce resident handling injury rates by at least 61%, lost workday injury rates by 66%, restricted days by 38%, and the number of workers suffering from repeat injuries.
Information including how to design a Limited Lift Program for our facility and the Implementation of the program were provided.
Also presented was the topic “Effective Hiring and Drug Screening”.

Some of the information that really caught my attention was the following facts.

- More than 8 million Americans use some type of illegal substance, as many as 73% of all illicit drug users in the U.S. are employed.

- More than 60% of adults know someone who has reported to work under the influence - Companies that do not have a drug testing program in place may often lose the first choice candidate to companies that do - One in five employees report that they have had to work harder, redo work, cover for a co-worker or have been put in danger or injured due to a fellow worker under the influence.
- “Preventing Injuries through Post Hire Physical Assessments” was presented with sample policies and procedures.

Quality First invited all area homes as it does not matter if Diamond is your insurance carrier or not. Five CEU”s were available to those attending at no cost to the attendee!
