Using QIS Tools for Risk Management-Guide One Insurance
Updating or revising your facilities existing risk management program can be an endless and tiring job. This presentation will review a framework for helping nursing facilities decides when a risk management policy and/or procedure are needed. We will discuss what the challenges have been between the survey aspect of risk management and what is needed for possible litigation. From a risk management/litigation perspective this process may benefit your facility while decreasing the risk of regulatory citations and claims. The program will also review the current QIS tools that are available for all facilities free of charge. Provide an overview of how to use the QIS tools and procedures for your facility’s Risk Management Program. The program will also associate the pro-active approach available when the QIS forms are used for resident and family satisfaction surveys.

- Discuss the challenges in maintaining an effective risk management program.
- Identify QIS tools to use for problem identification and risk management.
- Describe the role of employees in the success of a risk management program.
Defensive Documentation- Guide One Insurance
This seminar is designed to enhance the long term care nurse's documentation skills by selecting the best words and phrases to accurately communicate resident care and assist outside medical record auditors in their need for information.
The content of this seminar is designed to meet the following participant learning objectives:
- Apply general guidelines when documenting resident care.
- Use a system for documenting that assists him/her to thoroughly and concisely describe resident care issues.
- Recognize what should be included in a resident's record and what should be avoided.
- Record key information in response to incidents that adversely affect residents.
- Distinguish the difference between medical record and quality assurance information.
